Botswana Retreat

Return to the Wild With Kate Kendall

Botswana Retreat with Kate Kendall

Return to the Wild | August 22–29, 2026

When was the last time you felt truly wild (in the best possible way)?

This August, we’re heading to Munga Plains in Botswana with Kate Kendall for a sacred journey into the wild. It’s a place where golden savannahs, soulful rituals, and immersive safari experiences invite you to reconnect with your truest self.

Set in the heart of the dry season, when the skies stretch wide and wildlife gathers at the water, this intimate retreat invites you to breathe deeply, move intentionally, and remember who you are beneath the noise.

You’ll spend your days in rhythm with the land: yoga and breathwork under vast skies, sunset game drives through Chobe National Park, and nights around the fire with thoughtful humans and space to just be.

This isn’t just a retreat. It’s a return.

A return to simplicity, presence, and the part of you that remembers how to breathe.

Join us for a week of deep rest, wild beauty, and connection that lingers long after you leave.

Within each of us lies a place that is untouched, sacred, and wild.

This retreat is your invitation to return to it.

Expect to experience:

Wake each morning with a sense of calm as Kate Kendall leads you through breathwork, movement, and yoga in a secluded open-air shala surrounded by nature, where the quiet of the bush invites you into deep presence and connection.

Explore the raw beauty of Botswana through immersive safari experiences across Chobe National Park, where elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, giraffes, and countless other species move freely through the landscape, creating unforgettable moments in the wild.

Spend unhurried hours resting, writing, swimming, or simply listening to the rhythms of nature from the comfort of your veranda or beside the pool, allowing your nervous system the spaciousness it rarely receives.

Connect more deeply to place through community-led workshops, village visits, traditional storytelling, and firelit evenings featuring Basubiya dance and drumming.

Food That Feeds You

Nourish your body with meals thoughtfully prepared by Chef Ednah Rosen, author of A Taste of Botswana, featuring ingredients sourced from Munga Plains’ own gardens and highlighting a blend of wholesome global dishes and traditional Botswanan flavours.

Dining at Munga Plains is an integral part of the retreat experience, offering a fusion of local flavors.

Gather with like-minded humans in the heart of the savannah, sharing stories and silence alike, held by the landscape and the simplicity of being truly present.

Munga Plains is committed to sustainability and local sourcing in dining offerings. The farm-to-table concept involves cultivating their own garden and orchard to grow herbs, vegetables, and fruits, which are used in the dishes. This not only ensures the freshest ingredients but also supports our goal of becoming as self-sustainable as possible.

Location:

Munga Plains is a private retreat sanctuary located just outside Chobe National Park in Northern Botswana, one of Africa’s most abundant and breathtaking wildlife regions.

The camp is surrounded by golden savannah, wide skies, and the peaceful rhythm of the African bush. From the moment you arrive, you’ll feel a sense of deep quiet and spaciousness that invites you to slow down and settle in.

The retreat centre is thoughtfully designed using natural materials like wood, canvas, and thatching grass. Its solar-powered systems, elevated decks, and locally crafted furnishings create a space that feels both grounded and inspiring, honouring the surrounding environment and community.

Whether you’re watching elephants pass along the riverbanks, practising yoga in the open-air shala, or resting in a hammock under a starlit sky, every part of Munga Plains is created to help you reconnect with what matters most.

This is a place to unplug completely, return to the present moment, and be gently held by nature.

This is for you if…

  • You feel the need to pause, reset, and breathe in a setting where nature holds you gently and nothing is expected of you.

  • You’re craving space to reflect, reconnect, and let go of the constant noise, surrounded by people who value quiet moments as much as meaningful ones.

  • You’re drawn to the wild, to wide skies and open land, and to experiences that ground you in something deeper than your to-do list.

  • You’re curious about other ways of being and want to immerse yourself in a culture that honours tradition, connection, and community.

  • You want to move your body, soften your breath, and feel into your practice in a place built specifically for presence and healing.

  • You’re longing for shared meals, slow conversations, firelit nights, and a rhythm that lets you listen to your own needs.

  • You value sustainability, local wisdom, and experiences that support not just yourself, but also the land and people who welcome you.

  • You know that nourishment isn’t just what’s on the plate. It’s how you move, rest, connect, and return home to yourself.
